Gt. Melton v Shotesham– Home – 30th August 2011

Lost 64-69

Rink 1    1. Sue Springall  2. Richard Bolton  3. David Perrin

Off to a shaky start with Shotesham getting a 6 on the second end, Gt. Melton had their work cut out all the way through the game. Our team tried their hardest, but could only score on four ends. We were 1-19 down after the 11th but scored a 3, a 2 and a 1 after that to finish up 7-25.

Rink 2      1. Chris Starr  2. Laurie Moroney  3. Peter Markham

Gt. Melton were leading 5-1 after the 4th end, but then Shotesham got a 5 at the next. However, we continued to win each end with 1’s until the 10th when we scored a useful 5 to go into the lead 14-6. Shotesham did come back with a couple of 2’s and a 3 but couldn’t catch us up and the game finished 22-13 to us.

Rink  3      1. Chris Blazeby  2.  Jane Baker  3. Philip Richardson

Shotesham got a 5 on the 2nd end, followed by an enormous 7 at the 8th and we knew we had a fight on our hands, as by then we were down 5-15. The next end was declared void with a wood from each side touching the jack. This was a bit of a turning point for us and we then increased our score (including a 3 and a 4) to make it 16-17 at the end of the 16th. It was 17 all at the 17th and all to play for, but unfortunately we lost by 2 on the final end to finish 17-19.

Rink 4     1. Julia Richardson  2. Lucy Bolton  3. Joe Huckle

Gt. Melton were 2-8 at the 8th in this game, but then scored two 3’s and a 2 to even things up at 11-all with four ends to go. We continued to score steadily, including getting a 4, to end the game winning 18-12.

It was a pretty overcast evening but thankfully stayed dry and we managed to play 18 ends, although the light did start to go quickly in the end. I really wanted to win this match to finish the season on a high note but Shotesham were the stronger side. We beat them at theirs by 8 points and lost this one by 5, so even my maths can work out that we’re in credit by 3 points!!

The end of the season seems to have come round so quickly and we’ve been very successful, with twelve wins and three losses. We have lost the Mulberry Tree and Barnham Broom fixtures this year and had to cancel the return match with Wicklewood, so it might have been a different story……

I have really enjoyed being Captain and so a massive thank you to everyone for making my job easy - to David G for the excellent green and for the refreshments, etc throughout the year.

       Great Melton v Hethersett Social - 25th August 2011
                                      Won 68-58

Rink 1
– 1. Liz Cobbold 2. Colin Haverson 3. Peter Markham

Gt. Melton started very well and, by the end of the 11th end, Hethersett had only twice scored a 1, which gave us a lead of 16-2. They then scored a 4, and for the rest of the match each team got ones on alternate ends. Final score was 19-9 in our favour.

Rink 2 – 1. Jane Baker  2. David Perrin  3. Mike Corbett

It was Hethersett who started off the stronger of the two here, and Gt. Melton were 1-7 down after the 5th end. Unfortunately we could only get the odd point on three ends for the rest of the game, with Hethersett getting 2’s and 3’s, and winning the game 24-7.

Rink 3 – 1. Chris Blazeby   2. Laurie Moroney  3. Joe Huckle

This game was very close right from the start, with each side getting one point on respective ends, so that at the 8th we were down 4-5. Gt. Melton didn’t score at all for the next five ends and we were in danger of letting the game go. At the 12th end we were down 4-10 but then came back and won the remaining ends, getting among them two 3’s,and a 4, to make the final tally 17-14 in our favour.

Rink 4 – 1. Chris Starr  2. Richard Bolton  3. Norman Sutton

Off to a cracking start and after getting a 5 on the 7th end we were leading 15-1. Despite Hethersett coming back with a 2 and a 3 and the odd 1, we carried on building up a substantial lead, including scoring another 5 on the penultimate end, to take the game 25-11.

Well, what can I say……. After what can only be described as a foul morning with torrential rain I thought this might be another casualty of the weather. But after speaking with David G - and some divine intervention! - the sun came out and we had a lovely evening. The green continues to look and play very well and all thanks to David for getting it like this.

Another great win – many thanks for delicious refreshments – not forgetting the tea-ladies and washer-uppers – and well played everyone.

Wymondham Priory v Gt. Melton - Away  - 16th August
Won 64-56

Rink 1.    1. Jane Baker  2. Mike Blazeby  3. David Greenacre

This rink, it seems, was quite a bumpy one and it took seven ends for us to get used to the pace. At the 7th end Gt. Melton were down 5-9 but recovered to lead 15-12 on the 13th end, this including a dead end at the 12th with the jack in the ditch. We then got a 5 on the 14th end and held out to win by a hard-earned 20-15.

Rink 2.  1. Chris Blazeby  2. Richard Bolton  3. Mike Corbett

This was a pretty tight game all the way through and after 6 ends Gt. Melton were leading by one shot, 5-4. We failed to win an end on the next two but then won four on the trot, including a 4 and a 3 to make the score 7-13 in our favour at the t11h end. After that it was low scores for both sides until the final end when the Priory got a 3, but we still won 15-12.

Rink 3.  1. Richard Cockerill  2. Jenny Greenacre  3. Peter Markham

This one started off in the Priory’s favour, and at the 4th end, after they scored a 4, we were down 8-1. We then got a 1 on the 6th but then nothing for the next six ends to make it 20-2 to the Priory. Unfortunately Gt. Melton could only get a 2 for the rest of the match and finished the game 24-4 down. A good effort by our team, and maybe just one of those nights…

Rink 4.  1. Caroline Savory  2. Liz Cockerill  3. Joe Huckle

We were well up by the 7th end, leading 7-1 and we continued to win most of the ends with
four’s and three’s, to make the final score 25-5 to Gt. Melton.

It’s great to play at the Priory, very peaceful with the sound of the Abbey bells in the distance, and it’s always a very friendly match. Mike Corbett always comes in for a bit of ribbing with his “dual membership” of both clubs and this time was no exception, but to be fair he doesn’t tell any tales about the Priory!

It was a good night and a good win – I always look upon this fixture as a bit of a local derby, so it was a great result.  Many thanks as usual to everyone and well played.

Cringleford - Away - 25th July

Won 65-54

Rink 1 - 1. Chris B; 2. Liz Cockerill; 3. Philip
We had such a close game throughout the 16 ends, being 9-7 in the lead at the 10th.  Then there was scoring on alternate ends and we were 12-all at the end of the 14th.  We were holding 5 on the 15th, only for the Cringleford skip to draw the shot with a lovely wood to give them a 1-shot lead.  However, on the last end, we managed to hold shot and drew 13-13.

Rink 2 - 1. Sue; 2. John C; 3. Norman
Great Melton went straight into the lead by 5-2 at the 3rd and, by halfway, were 13-6 up.  No scoring for us on the next two ends, but then we got three 1's in succession.  On the last end, Cringleford scored a 2 and the game ended 16-10 in our favour.

Rink 3 - 1. Liz Cobbold; 2. Julia 3. Joe
I don't have the score card for this one (think Julia took it home!) but suffice to say, looking at the overall score, this was a resounding result.  All three played very well and I hope the large score didn't spoil the enjoyment.

Rink 4 - 1. Jane; 2. Mike B; 3. Mike C
There was a reasonable start on a difficult rink, with the score level 4-4 at the 6th end, but, with the opposition getting the measure of the jack, we didn't win another end until the 14th, to make the score 5-22.  A win for each team on the fianl 2 ends left a final tally of 6-24.

Cringleford's green has always given us problems and, in the past, we have struggled to win there.  Their members told us that Rinks 1 and 4 are particularly difficult, so, given that, I'm not beating myself up about Rink 4's result.  (I am! - MC)  However, this time we won on two rinks, drew on one and lost on one, with the aggregate score 11 shots in our favour.

We even had a hot-air balloon come over to watch us!  Cringleford are a lovely club and it was a very pleasant evening with the usual sandwiches and cakes.

We continue our run of wins and it's all down to you lot, who do the hard work and play well!  Many thanks and well played (again!)

Brooke – Away – 16 July 2011- Won 76-52

Rink 1     1.  Lawrie Moroney  2.  David Perrin  3.  Mike Corbett
This game started very close, being 8-8 at the halfway stage. Brooke then scored a total of 7 points on the next three ends, to make it 15-8. We scored one point on each of the next three ends, but on the last one Brooke got 2 to make the final score 17-11.

Rink 2     1. Chris Blazeby  2. Jane Baker  3. Joe Huckle

I don’t think I’ve ever played in such a close game – I couldn’t sleep afterwards!! Brooke and Gt. Melton were scoring on every alternate end, to make it 8-8 at the 11th. But, at the end of the 15th we were leading 13-12, with Brooke equalising on the next end. As we started the last end we were leading 15-13, only to let Brooke score a 5 and win 18-15.

Rink  3      1. Julia Richardson  2. Richard Bolton  3. Peter Markham

All through this game Gt. Melton held the lead, starting with a 4 on the first end, and at the 11th end we were 13-4 up. We then got a 6, scoring on nearly all the remaining ends, to finish up winning 29-6. A very convincing win.

Rink 4       1. Liz Cobbold  2. Lucy Bolton  3. Philip Richardson

Gt. Melton went into the lead from the start, but Brooke got a 4 on the 5th end to make it 5-4. Throughout the rest of the game, Brooke scored on only 4 ends, and we won the game 21-11.

When it was raining for most of the morning, I wasn’t sure that we’d be going to Brooke, but it dried up later, so we could go ahead. Although we won two rinks out of the four, played on a fairly difficult green, it was a good win. Brooke are a friendly crowd, so it was a very enjoyable evening, with excellent refreshments.

Once again, many thanks and well played.

Easton – Away – 29 June Won 63-55

Rink 1  1. Chris Blazeby  2.  David Gregory  3.  Mike Corbett
Our game was very close all the way through, and I’m in no way knocking Mike (Oh, good!),  but their Skip was so accurate. Time and again, when we would be holding 5, he would send in his last wood to finish by the jack to win the end. At the halfway mark we were leading 9-3, with both sides scoring alternately, and with one end to go, we got a 2 to win by 15-11.

Rink 2  1. Jane Baker  2. Mike Blazeby  3. Joe Huckle

After eight ends Gt. Melton were 8-0 up but then Easton gradually came back to make the score 8-10 to us and at the 16th end it was level pegging at 12-12. We got a 2 and then Easton scored 1 on the last end, to finish at 14-13. Very close!!

Rink 3  1. Janet Gregory  2.  Lawrie Moroney  3.  Peter Markham
Scoring a 5 on the first end was a great start, but almost immediately Easton came back on nearly every end, so that at the halfway stage we led 11-6. For the rest of the match we scored on just two ends, to end 14-18 down.

Rink 4  1.  Chris Starr  2  Richard Bolton  3.  Norman Sutton
This was another game that started off very close, being 5-5 at the end of the 7th end. We then had a 4, followed fairly quickly by a 3, but then Easton had a couple of 3’s, to bring the score to 13-14, with three ends to go. They failed to score again, and the game finished in our favour, 20-13.

Phew! After this match, I now know how the players at Wimbledon must sometimes feel after they’ve won a really close match! After three rinks had finished playing, we were leading by just one point but Chris, Richard and Norman finished, winning by 7 points.

Easton had had a problem with watering during the really dry spell which meant that the green was very patchy, and after some rain at the start of the match, it became very slippery in places. However, it didn’t spoil a very nice and friendly evening with lovely food.
Another good win, people – fingers crossed, we’re having an amazing season. As usual, well played.

Gt. Melton v Cringleford – Home – 21 June

Won 95-38

Rink 1    1. Jan Pennington 2. John Cobbold  3. Mike Corbett

This block were in a commanding lead right from the start, the score standing at 20-2 after ten ends. Cringleford only managed to win four ends in the match and the final score was 30-6.

Rink 2    1. Liz Cobbold  2. Mike Blazeby  3. David Perrin
At the start there was nothing in it and then Gt. Melton got a 4 on the fifth end, making the score 6-2 to us. Then it was nip-and–tuck until we were leading 16-9 at the 14th end. Then Cringleford scored a 4 at the 16th, but we held on getting a 3 on the last end to finish the game at 20-14.

Rink 3    1. Chris Blazeby  2.  Caroline Savory  3. Peter Markham
Cringleford went into the lead straightaway after the first two ends, but then failed to score for the next six ends, so that by the half way mark we were leading 15-3. We won the majority of ends for the remainder of the game to finish at 23-7.

Rink 4    1. Sue Springall  2. Jane Baker  3. Richard Bolton.
Again we went into the lead straightaway, with the score at 11-5 at the ninth end. Then we got a 4 followed by another one at the 17th endwhich sewed the game up with a final score of 22-11.

♦♦♦♦♦

It was a lovely evening, if a bit blustery, with the sun shining, and the green was looking and bowling really well. Cringleford are a very friendly crowd and despite the difference in the scores, it was a very pleasant match. Another good win – it’ll be great if we can keep this standard up…. Many thanks, as usual, to everyone for their help.

My thanks to Jane, our friendly Vice Captain, who held the fort so well the previous week while I was away enjoying myself. She was also very grateful for Richard’s help.

Great Melton v Hethersett PF – home – 14 June 2011

                                        Won 85-58

RINK 1 - Jane Baker   Mike Corbett  Peter Markham
Set off with a slow start with either team scoring 1's and 2's but at half way stage we were leading 8-5.  On end 14 Hethersett got a 4 putting them just one ahead at 11-12.  We then scored a 3 and kept ahead with a 4 on 17th end enabling a win of 18-14.

RINK 2 - Julia Richardson  Colin Haverson  Richard Bolton
Started off well and by end 7 we were 11-6 up.  Scored a 5 on end 10 which boasted our lead to 18-7.  Hethersett P/F started to come back from end 14 scoring a 5 on 16th end but not to be beaten we then scored a 6 on end 17.  Final score 26-17.  Well done.

RINK 3  Jan Pennington  John Cobbold  Norman Sutton
Had a slow start with Hethersett P/F scoring a 5 on 2nd end but not scoring again for 4 ends giving us 9-7 on end 7.  We kept our lead by continuing to score at each end finishing with a close 18-15 win.

RINK 4  Liz Cobbold  Lawrie Moroney  Philip Richardson
Kept ahead almost from the start and at end 9, half way, we were 12-8 up.  We then scored a 5 giving us a strong lead.  Hethersett P/F had a final flourish scoring on last 3 ends but never to catch us with a win of 23-12. I

t was a beautiful warm sunny evening.  The green played well with supporters watching on.  The spread afterwards was enjoyed by all.  Our Captain will be pleased with this good win.

Great Melton v Brooke – Home – 7th June 2011
Won 81-56

Rink 1 :– 1. Chris Starr 2. Liz Cockerill  3. Phillip Richardson

Off to a flying start, we led 14-2 at the start of the fifth end. We then had four ends where we didn’t get a point, and Brooke did the same so at the fourteenth end we were winning 18-12. But we only managed to score a 1 after that, to win the game 19-17.

Rink 2 :– 1. Lucy Bolton  2. Colin Haverson  3.  David Minter

We started well with this block, leading 6-3 at the ninth end, but then Brooke scored 2 and a 4 to go into the lead 6-9. After that they continued to come back and we lost the game 12-17.

Rink 3 :– 1. Julia Richardson  2. David Perrin  3. Peter Markham

Great Melton were in the lead, after getting a 5 on the sixth end, by 12 shots to 2.  Then we quickly got a 4 and a 1 to make it 17-2.  But then Brooke started to come back by scoring on nearly every end, leaving us to only get another 1 and a 2.  However, we did it and won 20-13.

Rink 4 :- 1. Chris Blazeby  2.  Richard Bolton 3. Mike Corbett

After a bad start (we were 7-0 down after the first two ends!), followed by a dead end, we sorted ourselves out and led comfortably all the way through. In fact Brooke scored on only 3 ends the entire match and we had a good win of 30-9.

Brooke are a great club to play against, very friendly and good company and the weather was kind, despite the threat of an odd shower. The green was playing well – thanks to a lot of hard work by David G. As usual, a big thank you for all the food – Brooke’s Captain even mentioned how good Julia’s strawberry sponge was in her vote of thanks!

An excellent result – well played everyone.

Wicklewood – Away – 2nd June 2011
Won 82-63

Rink 1 :-     1. Chris Starr   2. John Cobbold  3. Peter Markham

Wicklewood went into the lead at the start with us failing to score until the fourth end. We came back well, scoring consistently on nearly every end for the rest of the match, getting a 3 and a 5 on two ends. We then finished 20-11 to us.

Rink 2 :-    1. Liz Cobbold   2. David Perrin   3. Richard Bolton

This was a very close game was the score at 8-6 to Wicklewood at the start of the 7th end. They then got a 3 but we gradually kept winning ends to stand at 12-11 after twelve ends. Wicklewood then got a 3 which we matched, but it was very close and we got a 2 on the last end to win 18-17.

Rink 3 :-    1.  Jane Baker   2. Mike Blazeby   3.  Norman Sutton

Another very close game, with the score at 5 all at the start of the 6th end. Wicklewood gradually went into the lead, but then we got a very useful 6 at the 11th to make the score 13-12 in our favour.  For the rest of the match the lead constantly changed with Gt. Melton having a 4 on the penultimate end and scraping a win of 21-20.

Rink 4 :-    1. Chris Blazeby   2. Lawrie Moroney   3. Joe Huckle

We started off really well leading by 16-3 halfway through the match but then we failed to score for six ends on the trot and we stood at 16-11 by the 13th end. After that we held our own and won by 23-15.

♦♦♦♦♦

We had a beautiful sunny and warm evening at Wicklewood and although the green was a bit difficult we had a very enjoyable match. This has got to be one of our favourite away venues, with excellent food, good company and beer and wine!! Well done again, everyone – it’s always good to win….

Gt. Melton v Wymondham Priory - Home  - 24th May 2011

Won 76-61

Rink 1 :-     1. Chris Starr  2. Jenny Greenacre  3. Mike Corbett
This game was pretty even throughout, with each team scoring alternately, and at the 9th end the Priory went into the lead by one shot, at 6-7. Gt. Melton then got a 3 and five ends later, were leading 11-10. After then getting a 4 and a 2, we didn’t win any more ends, and we won 17-14.

Rink 2 :-     1. Trevor Hollidge  2. Jane Baker  3. Joe Huckle
We started well and were 13-3 up by the 8th end. The Priory then came back with a 5, followed by a 3 and it was then nip and tuck for the rest of the game, and we won by one point at 17-16.

Rink 3 :-     1. Chris Blazeby 2. Liz Cockerill  3. Mike Blazeby
Rather a disastrous start with the Priory getting a 5 on the first end! However we managed to sort ourselves out and came back to lead 16-6 at the 12th end. Then the Priory got a 4 and a 3 and by the 16th it was 16-16. All to play for, we got a 3 and a 1 to win the match 20-16. Good play by Liz and Mike, with some lovely woods when we needed them the most.

Rink 4 :-     1. Richard Cockerill  2. Julia Richardson  3. David Greenacre
We led all the way through here, scoring an unbelievable 7 on the 3rd end, to lead by 13-5 at the 7th. Although we didn’t score for the next four ends, the Priory couldn’t quite catch us and we won 22-15.

 ♦♦♦♦♦

This was a hard fought match, but we got there in the end! It was a fine evening, if a bit blustery, and the green was bowling well. It’s always a very friendly match against the Priory – with quite a lot of banter this time, aimed at our man with divided loyalties…….. Great to see so many supporters from both sides turning up to watch. Felt almost like Potters……

Again, a great win and many thanks to everyone, not forgetting the tea ladies!

Great Melton v Easton - Home - 18th May - Lost – 58-61

1. Chris Blazeby    2. Julia Richardson   3. Richard Bolton

We really had our work cut out against Easton, who had a very good No. 2 in their side. We were trailing by 2 shots to 11 at the start of the 9th end, then we scored a very handy 4. On the 14th end we had another 4, and, despite Richard’s best efforts on the final end, we got a 2.  Not quite enough, and we lost by 1, losing 13-14.

1.
Jane Baker   2. David Gregory   3. Joe Huckle

We were in the lead all the way through, comfortably at first, but then failed to score on the 10th, 11th, and 12th ends, when Easton crept up to make it 11-10 in our favour. The score was then 13-12 at the 14th and we got a 1 and a 2 to finish the game at 16-12 to us.

1.
Liz Cobbold   2. Colin Haverson   3. Caroline Savory

Starting off well in this game, we then failed to score for four ends and were 7-12 down at the 10th end. After that, it was tit-for-tat with low scores, and although we got 4 points on the last two ends, it wasn’t quite enough to win and we went down 13-16. Well done Caroline, for being Skip!! I blame our “Custodian of the Tin” choosing to play for Easton, as they were a man short…….

1.
Janet Gregory  2. John Cobbold  3. Phillip Richardson

This time, we were 3-3 after the first two ends, and although we got a 4 and a 5 further on, leading by 15-7, we couldn’t hold Easton, and lost 16-19.

♦♦♦♦♦

We’ve waited a long time for some rain this year, but when the skies darkened around 5.30pm and a heavy drizzle started, it wasn’t the best piece of timing!

However, despite that (and the weather did improve later) it was agreed that we would play just 16 ends. We drew against Easton last year, at ours, but couldn’t manage it this time, losing by just 3 points at 58-62. Maybe if we HAD done 18 ends we could have beaten them…..

As usual, a good night, good green, good company and a great spread. Thanks to everyone.

Chris B

Hethersett Social - Away - Thurs. 12 May -Won 91-63

1. Chris Blazeby   2. Jane Baker  3. David Minter

This game was in our favour all the time, and by the 10th end we were 10 -1 up. Hethersett just couldn’t seem to get into scoring and only won six ends, giving us an overall win of 7-23.

1. Liz Cobbold  2. David Perrin  3. Richard Bolton

Despite being 11 all halfway through the game, we were then 13-17 down at the 14th end but held on scoring each end until Hethersett got a 4 on the 19th and unfortunately we couldn’t quite make it, to finish 22-21 down.

1. Chris Starr  2. Liz Cockerill  3. Mike Corbett

This was a closely fought one and we were leading all the way until Hethersett scored a 3 on the 17th end to go 16-15 ahead. We then started 18-16 down on the last end and managed to come back with a triumphant 3 and finish the game by winning 19-18

1. Sue Springall  2. Norman Sutton  3. Joe Huckle

After some high scoring ends, we were in the lead by 18-6 at the halfway point. There was then alternate scoring by both sides but Hethersett couldn’t catch up and we finished winning 28-16

♦♦♦♦♦

This was one match we really wanted to win, having not won at Hethersett before, and despite the green running fast, a roving cott and two woods, we did it! It was a great night, the rain held off, with very sociable opposition and super food – especially the chips…

Well played, everyone, I’m beginning to like this Captain thing…

Hethersett PF - away - Thursday 5th May - Lost 63-80

1 - Chris
Blazeby; 2 - Mike Corbett; Skip - Peter Markham

This game started off pretty close, and it was 5-5 after 7 ends. Then, after the 13th end, Hethersett scored on nearly every end,
including a 3 and a couple of 2's, to give them an overall win of 19-11.

1 - Chris Starr; 2 - Caroline Savory; Skip - David Minter

This was very close and, at the start of the 11th end, we were 9-7 up. But then we failed to score again, apart from two more points, to finish 11-20 down.

1 - Jane Baker;  2 - Mike Blazeby; Skip - Joe Huckle

We started off very well in this one, being 12-1 in the lead at the 6th end.  Hethersett then crept back , and scored a 4 on the 12th, to make the score 14-8.  By the 15th end, we were 19-12 up, but failed to score again and Hethersett managed to come to come back for a 19-19 draw.

- Lawrie Moroney; 2 - David Perrin; Skip - Norman Sutton

Several fours and threes apiece were scopred in this game, amking it fairly even all the way through. Hethersett just had the edge over us, however, and, at the 20th end, it was 19-22. Then, when it mattered most, we scored a three to snatch a 22-22 draw.

Playing with two woods and a roving cott was always going to be a bit of a challenge for us.  Overall, the match was a pretty close one, and the high score is reflected in two blocks scoring 19 and 22 respectively (and both drawing!)

Well done, everybody - a good effort, and at least the weather was a bit warmer!

At the 7th end, it was 4-4, and, at the 9th, we were 8-4 in the lead.  But then Shotesham came back with a 6, making the rest of the match very close. On the last end, at 14-14, Shotesham scored a vital 1, to win 15-14.

Rink 3 :- 1 - Liz Cobbold; 2 - Lucy Bolton; Skip - Mike Corbett

After some pretty even, low scoring by both sides, we ghot a 6 on the 12th end, which put us well ahead. Shotesham couldn't pull back and we eventually won 18-7.

Rink 4 :- 1 - Chris Blazeby; 2 - Norman Sutton; Skip - Joe Huckle

We were 5-0 down after the first 3 ends, but managed to pull back with steady scoring to finish the match 15-13 ahead by a crucial score of 2 on the last end.

Rink 5 :- 1 - Lawrie Moroney; 2 - Richard Bolton; Skip - David Minter

Not much in it with this rink, until the 13th end, when Shotesham were 13-8 ahead. We couldn't pull back, unfortunately, and lost 9-14.

After a small hiccup with the match start time, we had a very freindly and enjoyable game.  Despite being very windy and cold, the rain kept off.

A good start to the season!
